COVID19 Screen Clinics in Victoria

When should I be tested for COVID-19?

People without symptoms should notbe tested except in special circumstances, such as recovered cases wishing to return to work in a healthcare facility or aged care facility, or where requested by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.

People who meet the following clinical criteria should be tested:

  • Fever OR chills in the absence of an alternative diagnosis that explains the symptoms;

  • Acute respiratory infection that is characterized by cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, or loss of sense of smell.

In addition, testing is recommended for people with:

  • new onset of other clinical symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (headache, muscle pain, stuffy nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)

  • who are close contacts of a confirmed case of COVID-19,

  • who have returned from overseas in the past 14 days,

  • who are healthcare or aged care workers,

All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who develop fever or respiratory symptoms for coronavirus should be tested.

All people being tested for COVID-19 should home isolate until test results are available. All patients should attend an emergency department of health deteriorates.

Persons presenting for screening under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (parent or guardian), or will not be tested.
