COVID Rule relaxes as 

Restrctions ease

Covid rules relaxed as Melbourne celebrates the 10th consecutive day of 0 COVID Cases reported.

  • Strict coronavirus rules have been eased in Victoria after declaring a golden run of ten days recording 0 COVID-19 infections or deaths.

  • The 14-day rolling average for cases has decreased to 0.4

  • Sweeping changes were announced by Premier Daniel Andrews on Sunday, with more restrictions due to be lifted on November 22.


Restrictions on Home Visit eased

  • Intimate partners or people who normally live at the home are excluded from the two-person limit.

  • Hospital and care facility visitation restrictions have been slightly relaxed, allowing one household to visit a patient or resident for up to two hours.

  • Previously, visitors had only been allowed if they had specific exemptions.

  • Tourist accommodation across the state will now be open, with limits in place for who can make the bookings


Easing from 22nd November

  • Further restrictions are set to be lifted at 11:59 pm on November 22 given the number of cases remaining low, this includes allowing up to 10 people at indoor private gatherings and up to 50 outdoors.

  • Entertainment and cultural venues such as music venues, museums, indoor and outdoor cinemas, and the casino are all able to re-open from 9 November subject to capacity restrictions

  • Density quotients are expected to be lifted for sport and recreation.

  • Up to 100 people will be allowed at weddings and funerals 

  • Workplaces will no longer need to be on the permitted worklist to open and the ability to work will change to "if you can work from home you must work from home".


State of emergency remains in place, state of disaster to be lifted 

  • Victoria has been living under both a state of disaster and a state of emergency for months.

  • Mr. Andrews said the state of disaster would no longer be extended

  • "Because while the virus is still with us, we will be in a place where we do not need to have that legislative instrument in place any longer, and that's good news," he said.

  • However, the state of emergency, which has been set since March, will continue to be extended.
