Support for job seekers

Working for Victoria is established by the Victorian Government to help jobseekers find new opportunities. Those who hold valid Australian working rights are eligible to register.

Victorian Government has poured $1.7 billion for Economic Survival Package.

Victorian Government has partnered with Sidekicker to support:

  • jobseekers to find work

  • jobseekers to access online training

  • employers to find workers fast, with the skills and experience they need

Support for renters

There is currently a moratorium on evictions for six months from 29 March 2020, for residential and commercial tenants experiencing financial hardship due to the impact of coronavirus.

The Victorian Government has also announced rent relief grants for those who experience rental hardship because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

Support for international students

The Victorian Government has announced a $45 million International Student Emergency Relief Fund for international students facing financial hardship because of coronavirus.

This relief fund is partnered with Victoria’s tertiary education providers.

Relief payments for temporary visa holders

The Australian Red Cross has received Commonwealth Government Funding specifically to support people who are on temporary visas with a small one-off emergency relief payment.

This is eligible for the residents in Australia with urgent needs who 

  • are not Australian citizens or permanent residents; and

  • are not eligible for State or Territory funds for temporary visa holders (except those delivered by Red Cross); and

have no income or savings and no access to other support.
