International Students can work over

40hrs per fortnight

Major supermarkets in Australia will be able to temporarily offer more working hours to international student employees to help to keep up the shelves stocked. International students that are currently working at the major supermarkets will be able to extend their working hours to help meet the high demand for essential items because of the coronavirus.

Due to the high demand of essential items in supermarkets because of coronavirus, international students could work over 40 hours a fortnight. The Department of Home Affairs and the main supermarkets such as Woolworths and Coles could manage the measures for the existing employees in their current roles. For other supermarkets could register with the Department of Home Affairs if they believe the changes is helpful for them.

🔸Students have the same rights as other employees and all the employers required to abide by all the relevant Australian workplace laws.

🔸The changes are short term and will be reviewed regularly to ensure they are working and that they are still required.
