Canada Permanent Residency

Required Points dropped to apply for PR

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CSR) score in the most recent invitation decreased by 2 points to around 470 points as compared to previous draw. This leads to the largest draw of 4,500 Express Entry candidate invitations to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence by Government of Canada on February 19.

The Express Entry system manages the pool of candidates for three of Canada’s main skilled labour immigration categories

  • Federal Skilled Worker Class

  • Federal Skilled Trade Class

  • Canadian Experience Class

Eligible candidates are entered into the Express Entry pool and are ranked based on a CRS score that considers factors such as age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French.

Additional Information for an Express Entry Invitation to Apply (ITA):

  • a job offer is not required, though additional CRS points are awarded if a candidate has one.

  • Express Entry candidates with scores below today’s CRS cut-off have a variety of potential options to increase their total points, the most valuable of which is a provincial nomination.

  • Extra points will also be awarded to International Students studying in Canada.
