
New pathway for regional NSW-based skilled migrants
Update!
The NSW Government is bolstering support for Regional NSW-based skilled migrants with a dedicated pathway for Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) nomination.
The new 'Working in Regional NSW' eligibility stream recognises applicants’ commitment to living and working in regional NSW and demonstrates support for businesses seeking to retain skilled migrants for their operations.
Regional NSW-based direct pathway
Update!
To apply under this pathway, you must:
-
Ensure you are eligible for this visa subclass on the Home Affairs.

Be currently living and working in their nominated (or closely related) occupation in a designated regional area of NSW, and have continuously done so for the past 12 months for a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Have a valid skills assessment in an occupation within a unit group that appears on the NSW Regional Skills List and is eligible for the visa
-
Are paid at least the TSMIT level or $53,900 per annum (full time basis) excluding superannuation
-
Provide evidence for all points claims in your SkillSelect EOI, and where you currently reside, with your application. You must also provide a copy of your SkillSelect EOI.
Work experience and point score
The work experience and point score requirement does not apply to the 'Regional NSW-based direct pathway'.

NSW Government has published new occupation list for the year 2022-23. New minimum point scores and years of skilled work experience requirements in the 2022-23 financial year.

Update!
NSW Government has published new criteria for the year 2022-23. Now, you need to residing in NSW or Offshore for 6 months and 3 months respectively for subclass 190 and subclass 491.
-
within an ANZSCO unit group identified on the NSW Skilled Nominated Skills List; AND
-
is eligible for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
Regional NSW study exemption
Update!
You are exempt from the minimum work experience requirement under the regional NSW pathway if you have
-
completed study in regional NSW within the most recent 24 months before applying to an RDA office; AND
-
your study is related to your nominated (or closely related) occupation; AND
-
your study in regional NSW makes you eligible to claim points for Studying in Regional Area.
NSW State Sponsor (Subclass 190)
Eligibility
-
have genuinely and continuously resided in NSW or offshore for the past 6 months, OR,
-
Your occupation is within an ANZSCO unit group identified on the NSW Skilled Nominated Skills List and is eligible for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
-
You now must have a minimum of work experience in your nominated (or closely related) occupation for some occupations within some ANZSCO unit groups.
NSW State Sponsor (Subclass 190)
Eligibility
-
have genuinely and continuously resided in NSW or offshore for the past 3 months, OR,
-
Your occupation is within an ANZSCO unit group identified on the NSW Skilled Nominated Skills List and is eligible for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 491)
-
You now must have a minimum of work experience in your nominated (or closely related) occupation for some occupations within some ANZSCO unit groups.

Along with these, ANZCO code 2633: Telecommunications Engineering Professionals is also OPEN for subclass 190 within minimum required points 95 and 2 years of work experience.

Along with these, also Primary and Middle School Teachers can apply for subclass 491.
