As international borders reopen, further targeted measures will be introduced to support the international education sector. To encourage the rapid return of international students, here are the upcoming changes on the new visa settings:
For Students Visa holders
time spent offshore studying online can be counted towards the study period to qualify for a temporary graduate visa
For Temporary Graduates
The length of stay on the Temporary Graduate visa will increase from 2 to 3 years for Masters by coursework graduates
Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector eligible graduates will also receive a 2-year Temporary Graduate visa instead of 18 months.
485 Visas expired on/after 1 February 2020 can re-apply for a new subclass 485 visa (replacement visa) of the same duration as their original visa if they have been unable to come to Australia.
Graduates whose visas have expired will be able to apply for a replacement visa from 1 July 2022
* These measures will support the implementation of the soon-to-be-released Australian Strategy for International Education.
