Stage Three Lockdown restrictions Reimposed
: Metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire

Victorian premier Daniel Andrews officially announced that Melbourne will go back to square one and stage three lockdown will be on effect from Midnight tomorrow (Effective from 12 am, 9 July 2020). The lockdown will be in place for six weeks until further notice. 

With 2 back to back over 100 cases (191 on Tuesday and 127 on Monday) of new COVID cases, this was the advice from Health professionals.

🔹 Stage 3 Lockdown means 

You can go out of home only for the following reasons:

  • food shopping

  • caregiving

  • exercise, and

  • to study or work (if you can't do it at home).

No visitors will be allowed at home.

This lockdown will be in effect at Metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire. Victorians are urged not to panic as they go back to square one again.

Victoria coronavirus case number hits 288 cases on the second day of lockdown

As of 10 July,

On Friday, 10 July, Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed that Victoria has recorded the highest COVID-19 case day in Australia with 288 cases, bringing the state total to 3397. This number exceeded New South Wales’ record of 212 cases on 28 March.

Victorians living in the restricted areas are now also requested to wear masks in public when they cannot maintain social distancing. This includes at a supermarket, in a taxi or Uber and on public transport. Andrews also stated that the government has started the process of getting two million masks made to be distributed throughout the community. The wearing of masks is not compulsory, but is a request.

Friday’s case number is over 100 more than the day before, when there were 165 cases reported and the previous highest day in the state was 191.
