State and Regional Visa allocation for 2022-23 has been official published for subclass 190 and subclass 491 with a massive increase of 112.6% and 49.2% year to year growth respectively. There might be further allocation after first October Budget from the newly appointed Lab or Government. Few of the States are already OPEN for application while others are expected to OPEN soon. Find below the state wise visa allocation for 2022-23.

Visa Allocation 2022-23

Victoria (VIC) already had the highest allocation for subclass 190, with the recent update of additional 1400 allocation, it is now head and shoulder above all other states. If you are considering to apply for State and Regional Sponsor, now is the right time to lodge your application.

  • You must be living in Victoria/overseas

  • You now have the option to choose which subclass to apply for subclass 190 and subclass 491, even though you are residing in Metro city Melbourne. (Which means, you may be eligible to apply if you have only 50 points)

  • You can apply through ANY Occupation if you have a positive skills assessment

  • You not necessarily have to be working in your occupation.

South Australia (SA) has a promising increase in Visa allocation both for subclass 190 and subclass 491; SA generally having more than 500 Occupations in the SA Occupation list is a good indication for people who are seeking to move to SA and also have occupation in the Short term occupation list. 2022-23 SA Occupation list is expected to be published soon. Benefit for South Australia's State and Regional Sponsor stream is that it has multiple streams to choose from which includes even exemption to the work requirements in some cases.

Western Australia (WA) Graduate stream remains a very attractive option for people who like to consider studying in the near future. Recently, Invitations were issued with only 70 points (including 15 points from the state), and invitations issued within 2 days of EOI lodgement. WA is one of the state apart from Victoria, where you can study Master of Nursing even if you do not have any Nursing background.

Along with other occupations, there are multiple Trade occupations which are in the WA list. Among other streams, WA also has a Graduate stream-Vocational for which a diploma course can possibly give you a positive skills assessment and hence make you eligible for WA Graduate stream.

WA seems to have the most increased year to year visa allocation but it did receive additional allocation at the end of 2021-22 Financial Year. WA Skilled Migration program was one of the most popular options in the last FY as applicants were allowed to apply for WA State sponsor program while residing in other States.
