$3 Million Support for Temporary Visa Holders from Tasmanian Government
Due to lockdown measurements, the whole country has seen business closures. Job cuts and these measurements have hugely impacted the Australian economy and hence the residents. As Temporary visa holders are not eligible for Jobkeeper and Jobseeker program, the Tasmanian Government has come with a new scheme to support the Tasmanian Temporary Visa holders.
✅ if they can demonstrate genuine financial hardship as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. This scheme will provide immediate payment of $250 per individual or up to $1000 per family.
✅ People who can, however, go back to their home country during this period, the state government will assist with travel advice, and if necessary (due to financial hardship) may offer financial support on a case by case basis analysis.
✅ The State will work with industry sectors or employers who want to retain their employees because of their specialist skills in the State for when their business is able to start up again and will provide additional support in partnership with them so that the skilled workforce is not lost.
The Tasmanian State Government has announced Up to $3 million will be allocated towards this initiative.
