The previous highest tally was 484 on Wednesday, July 22.
Total cases in Victoria is 8,713 cases. Total active cases in Victoria is 4,542 cases, with 15% of it is connected to outbreaks in aged care facilities.
There are currently 245 people in hospital and 44 people in intensive care. Among 6 deaths today, 5 were connected to aged care with ages ranging from people in their 50s to 70s. currently, there are 683 active cases connected to aged care.
The spike in Victoria’s COVID19 death rate is worse than any other country in the world, measurements by Oxford University have revealed. The state’s death toll has been doubling every 4 days.
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews warns that the 6-weeks lockdown of Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire could go for longer if sick people don’t stop attending work, because it is “the biggest driver of transmission.”
