Extra Working hours for Aged Care Students

Aged care providers will temporarily offer more working hours to international students to ensure the care of Australians and fight the impact of coronavirus.

🔸 Alan Tudge --- Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migration Services and Multicultural Affair announced that international students would help fill staff shortages in the Aged care Industry.

🔸 Aged care providers have to make sure that they have enough staff to take care of older Australians, and meanwhile, more and more staff take leave to quarantine or because of health concerns. Previously, international students who worked at the aged care department had a working restriction of 40 hours a fortnight, but to prevent further COVID-19 spread and fillup staff shortage due to excessive demand, the government has released the limitation temporarily.

All the students have the same rights as other employees and all the employees are required to follow the relevant Australian workplace laws in Australian workplace.

The Government continuing to work closely with the sector to make sure having the strongest possible workforce in place as they deal with the extraordinary health challenge.
