• The Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) (subclass 400) visa allows for short-term, highly specialised, non-ongoing work where the skills, knowledge or experience cannot reasonably be found in the Australian labour market. This visa provides priority processing where the applicant can demonstrate they are assisting with the response to a natural disaster.

You can apply for this visa if you have specialised skills, knowledge or experience that:

• can assist Australian business

• can't reasonably be found in the Australian labour market

• will be non-ongoing

Non-ongoing work means, work that is likely to be completed within 6 months or less (which in this case is flood recovery work), and you do not expect or arrange to stay in Australia after this time for any reason related to that work.

• ​The Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482) allows Australian employers to hire overseas skilled workers where they are unable to hire Australians to meet the need of the job.
