IT Occupations: Migration pathway and Study options

Eligible applicants with positive skills assessment received 189, 190, 491 in recent months after long wait. The department also has reduced the visa processing time. A backlog of visas which was more than a million even just a few months ago almost is halved now. Applicants not only from onshore but also from overseas received invitations lately to apply for PR (Permanent Residency in Australia). This comes with Government's national and state wise increased skilled migration visa allocation.

INCREASED VISA ALLOCATION

With Migration seemingly going back to pre-pandemic level, Skilled Migration visa allocation recently increased and additional 35,000 allocations were also distributed among different visa categories including to different states.

ICT OCCUPATION - LATEST UPDATE

Migration pathway and study options
Applicants received invitation for subclass 189 in the last month, starting from 85 points.
However, across all other Australian States, invitations were issued with relatively less Migration points.

To apply for permanent residency, you need to have a positive skills assessment for you nominated occupation. It is comparatively more challenging to attain a skills assessment if your nominated occupation is in the Short-Term Occupation list compared to that of Medium to Long Term Occupation List.

For ICT Occupations such as:

  • ICT Business Analyst

  • System Analyst

  • Developer Programmer

  • ICT Security Specialist

For these occupations, you need a 1 Year post study work experience in your nominated occupation before you can express your interest for PR application.

However, you may attain a positive skills assessment as ''Telecommunications Network Planner" or, "Telecommunications Technical Officer" upon completing an eligible 2 years Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Networking).
