Applications for Victorian nomination under the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visa program have already opened since 9 am Monday 18 November 2019.

 

The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) is a provisional Points-tested visa for skilled workers who wish to settle in regional Australia. The skilled workers must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government before applying for this visa.

 

To receive a Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) nomination from Victoria, you will need to meet the following minimum eligibility requirements:

 

  • Under age 45

  • Competent level of English

  • Nominated occupation must be listed on the Commonwealth’s skilled occupation lists

  • Financial resource in place

  • Offer of employment in the nominated occupation in a designated regional area of Victoria

  • Employment offer must be for full-time work (38 hours per week) for a period of at least 12 months

  • Must demonstrate that you are committed to living, working and/or studying in a designated regional area for the length of the visa period

  • Must provide a valid skills assessment

Currently, the Department of Home Affairs puts more focus on regional migration and has allocated more spaces for regional visas.
