Why the fee drops for some applicants

If you hold a Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300) and apply for the partner visa, you pay AUD 1,955, not AUD 11,710. The Department already charged you the full rate when you applied for the 300 visa.

The same logic applies if your Prospective Marriage visa ceased before you applied, or if you hold a transitional Extended Eligibility Temporary Visa (EETV). Both pathways carry a reduced fee because you already paid a partner-pathway charge earlier.

Dependent Child visa (subclass 445)

  • Base charge: AUD 3,235

  • Additional applicant 18 and over: AUD 1,615

  • Additional applicant under 18: AUD 810

If you hold a Dependent Child visa (445) and later apply for a partner visa, you pay a nil visa application charge. Check our Child Visa page if this applies to you.

  • At the time of application

  • Before the Department processes your application

These costs vary by case and increase overall spending beyond the base visa fee.
