What Is the ART Application Fee Increase?
The Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) increases all application fees from 1 July 2026.
The new fees apply to any payment made on or after that date — even if you lodged your review application before 1 July 2026.
Fees increase annually under Rule 33 of the Administrative Review Tribunal Rules 2024, with adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

What Changes for Migration Applicants?
Migration Decision Reviews
If the Department of Home Affairs refused your visa and you have review rights, the ART review fee rises to $3,727 from 1 July 2026.
A 50% reduction — down to approximately $1,863.50 — may be granted on financial hardship grounds.
This fee applies to reviewable migration decisions, which include most visa refusals and cancellations where review rights are stated in your decision notice.
Protection Decision Reviews
If you applied for a protection visa and your application was refused, the ART review fee rises to $2,293 from 1 July 2026.
The protection review fee works differently from the migration review fee. You generally pay this fee only if your review is not successful. If the ART sets aside the refusal in your favour, the fee is typically not charged.
Concessional Fee
The concessional fee remains at $100. This applies in limited circumstances explained on the ART fees page.
Does the New Fee Apply to My Application?
The ART applies the new fees to any payment made on or after 1 July 2026.
What this means in practice:
If you lodged your review before 1 July 2026 but have not yet paid the fee, the new higher fee applies when you pay.
If you paid the fee before 1 July 2026, the old fee applies.
The lodgement date alone does not determine which fee schedule applies — the payment date does.
Check your application status and confirm payment timing if your review is pending around this date.
Why Do ART Fees Increase?
ART fees increase annually under two legislative instruments:
Rule 33 of the Administrative Review Tribunal Rules 2024
Regulations 4.13A and 4.31BA of the Migration Regulations 1994
Both instruments tie annual increases to changes in the Consumer Price Index. The amounts for each year are published in the Government Notices Gazette.
New: NDIS Review Fee
From 1 July 2026, a fee now applies to applications for review of a decision made by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner.
Previously, no fee applied. The applicable fee is the standard application fee of $1,195.

What Should You Do Before 1 July 2026?
