485 Visa Fee Increase

Last updated: 2 July 2026

From 1 July 2026, the Australian Government increased the application charge for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).

According to the Department of Home Affairs fee schedule updated on 1 July 2026, the government application charge for the primary applicant now stands at:

AUD $5,750

This amount applies to all 485 applications lodged on or after 1 July 2026.

Before you lodge your application, confirm your eligibility and visa stream.

If you’re planning to apply for the TR-485 visa, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming changes and how to save before the price hike.

485 Visa Fees for Dependants

If you include family members in your application, you must pay additional government charges.

From 1 July 2026:

  • Include a partner or dependent child

  • Apply for a subsequent 485 visa (if eligible)

If your student visa will expire soon, review your timeline immediately.

Why This Matters for 485 Applicants

The 485 visa usually gives graduates one opportunity to apply.

A refusal can affect your future migration pathway. With the government charge now at $5,750, errors create serious financial risk.

Before you lodge your application, confirm that you:

  • Meet the Australian study requirement

  • Select the correct 485 stream

  • Meet English language requirements

  • Hold valid health insurance

  • Prepare complete and accurate documents
