Working Holiday Visa

Working Holiday Maker Visa for Brazilians
Young people from Brazil will be able to work, study and holiday in Australia under a new Work and Holiday visa arrangement signed today. Young Australians will also benefit from this new opportunity.

Commencing on 1 July 2022, the arrangement will allow up to 500 Brazilians aged between 18 and 30, each year to stay in Australia for a 12-month holiday where they can undertake short-term work and study.

Working Holiday Maker Visa for Mongolians

A new Work and Holiday Maker arrangement with Mongolia will allow young people from Australia and Mongolia to work, study and holiday in each other’s countries.

This new Work and Holiday Maker arrangement will allow up to 100 Mongolians and 100 young Australians each year to enjoy a 12-month holiday, during which they may undertake short-term work and study.

Working Holiday Visa is for young adults who want an extended holiday and to work here to fund it.

Basic Eligibility for Working Holiday Visa:

  • Must be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - except for Canadian, French and Irish citizens up to 35 (inclusive)

  • Must have a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction

  • Must not be accompanied by dependent children

First Working Holiday visa

Period: 12 Months

This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - and Canadian, French, and Irish citizens 18 to 35 years old (inclusive) - have their first extended holiday in Australia and work here to help fund their trip.

  • ​​​You must have a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction

  • You can work while you are here

  • You can apply for a second Working Holiday visa if you meet certain eligibility criteria

  • If in the below list, there is no annual cap mentioned, that means there's no limit or cap for that country.

  • The passport holders of countries listed with Green are eligible to apply for subclass 417 whereas the ones in yellow are eligible to apply for subclass 462.

Second Working Holiday visa

Period: 12 Months

This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - and Canadian, French, and Irish citizens 18 to 35 years old (inclusive) - who currently hold, or who have held, a Working Holiday visa, have a second working holiday in Australia.

  • ​​​​You must have a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction

  • You can do any kind of work while you are here

  • You must have completed 3 months of specified work while holding your first Working Holiday (subclass 417) visa

  • You can apply for a third Working Holiday visa if you meet certain eligibility criteria

Third Working Holiday visa

This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - and Canadian, French, and Irish citizens 18 to 35 years old (inclusive) - who currently hold, or who have held, a second Working Holiday visa, have a third working holiday in Australia.

  • ​​​You must have a passport from an eligible country/jurisdiction

  • You can do any kind of work while you are here

  • You must have completed 6 months of specified work while holding your second 417 visa or a bridging visa in certain circumstances

Working Holiday Visa Extension

If your Working Holiday Visa is expiring, you may or may not be able to extend to another Working Holiday Visa depending on your eligibility

You may have 3 options to choose from if you want to extend your stay in Australia.

1. Apply for a second/third Working holiday Visa depending on your eligibility

2. Apply for a Student Visa

3. Apply for a Tourist Visa

You may have a lot of study options including English Courses and 6 months to 1-year diploma courses.

You may have a lot of options to choose from including $5500 Diploma courses for 1 year to Masters level courses.

  • Other Trade and Hospitality courses (Painting, Construction, Carpentry, Cookery etc.)
