482 Visa Salary Requirements
2026 Guide

Last updated: 14 April 2026 · RACC Migration & Education Services

To qualify for the 482 visa, your salary must meet two conditions simultaneously:

the applicable income threshold for your stream, and the Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR) for your occupation and location. If your salary doesn't satisfy both, the nomination will be refused.

Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT)

The CSIT is the minimum salary for the Core Skills stream of the 482 visa.

The CSIT also applies to Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) nominations lodged on or after 7 December 2024.

Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT)

The SSIT is the minimum salary for the Specialist Skills stream of the 482 visa.

Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT)

The TSMIT applies to the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa (subclass 494) and the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187). It does not apply to the 482 visa directly, but is useful context for employers using multiple visa pathways.

Indexation

Income thresholds are indexed annually in line with changes to Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE). Changes apply from 1 July each year.

If you lodge a nomination on or after 1 July, you must meet the threshold for that new financial year — even if you started the process before that date.
