PR Application through Part-Time Work Stream 

To apply for PR through State and Regional sponsor, you generally need to have fulltime work experience as per the work stream across different states. Exception to this are South Australia and Canberra. 

So, if you hold a visa currently where you do not have fulltime working right and you wish to submit your PR application through state and regional sponsor, these states could be good option for you.

South Australia

You may be eligible for PR pathway if you work part-time in South Australia under Living and Working in SA streams.​

• You must be working at least 20 hours per week or 40 hours per fortnight in your nominated or closely related occupation in South Australia.

• For applying for 491 nominations, you must be working for the last 6 months in South Australia, unless specified differently for your occupation. 

• For applying for 190 nominations, you must be working for the last 12 months in South Australia, unless specified differently for your occupation.

If you are working and residing in regional South Australia for a certain period, you may be eligible to apply for exemption and work in any field given that you have a positive skills assessment in your nominated occupation.

Canberra

• Canberra has an invitation for multiple occupations almost every week. Invitations were issued from 65 points.

• you may be eligible for PR pathway if you work minimum of 20 Hours for Subclass 491.

• Canberra has a different point calculation which is called the ACT Matrix rather than the conventional Skilled Migration points system.

• If your occupation is listed in the Canberra Critical list, then you not necessarily have to be working in your nominate occupation to apply. 

• ACT Matrix could be more convenient if you have a partner as it may give you addition points.

• A 1 Year course (starting from $6,000) in Canberra may give you up to 10 points and a 2-years course in Canberra may give you up to 20 points.
