Canberra Matrix
Canberra Matrix is a score-based system that is different from that of the subclass 189 points calculation.
The ACT Occupation List was replaced by the ACT Critical Skills List.
Therefore, you must go through the Canberra Matrix system if you are interested in applying for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) nomination under the skilled migration streams:
-
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa – subclass 491
-
Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa – subclass 190
There are two phases to apply for ACT nomination
1. Complete a ‘Canberra Matrix’ to formally express an interest in applying for ACT nomination (you can choose either ACT 491 or 190 nominations).
If you are one of the top candidates with the highest scores, you will be selected and invited to apply for the ACT nomination.
Your Matrix score will not necessarily be ranked as the demand for ACT nomination greatly exceeds the number of nomination places available each year.
2. Submit the online application and pay fees within 14 days immediately after getting the invitation to apply for the ACT nomination.
The required documents you attach must prove your eligibility and Matrix points claimed at the date of Matrix submission.
ACT Matrix Invitation Round Update (October 28)
457 / 482 visa holders: 14 invitations
-
190 nomination: 4 invitations
Matrix nominating Critical occupations
-
190 nomination: 66 invitations
The minimum ranking score is an indication only and not a guarantee that an invitation was issued. The ranking may depend on the date and time of Matrix submission.
Invitations are not issued for an occupation if the monthly cap is met. The cap will reset in November
